What is a Widget?

Let's start with the definition of a widget. A widget is an element of GUI - Graphical User Interface. It displays information or provides a specific way for you to interact with Senta. You will see several preloaded widgets on your main dashboard. 


Here is an example of one of our widgets:



With the widgets, you can personalise your dashboard to suit your preferences. 


You can customise all your widgets by resizing them.



...and dragging and dropping them around the dashboard:



Click on the cross in the top right to remove the widget from your dashboard.




To add a new one, go to the Add widget dropdown at the top left of your Dashboard and click on the widget you would like to add.



Make sure to click Save when you are done customizing your dashboard.


Different types of Widgets


You can select various types of widgets from the Add Widget drop-down box.

Widget Functions

Client message

The client message widget will enable you to add a personalised message that will appear on the Client Portal. 


You can edit this message by going to Settings > Practice Details > General Tab



Now you and your clients will be able to see your personalised message:



Recent clients

The recent client widget displays the most recent clients accessed by the Practice user.



Clients pie chart

This widget will display your data in a clean and colourful pie chart. The widget has been set up to display Clients by Type as a default; however, you can change what data you want to display simply by clicking on the Settings option and selecting your preferred data.



In addition to changing which data you would like to display, you can also apply multiple filters:



Clients growth by month

Clients' growth by month is another sleek widget that will allow you to view your data in a visual graph. The widget is configured to display the Client Growth by Month with the option to group the information to tailor the widget to your practice needs. 



To access the Group by the option, please go to Settings and click on the list icon.



Select the category to apply the filter:



Client Counter

The client counter widget displays the number of registered clients at your practice. From here, you can also jump straight to your Client List simply by clicking on the number. 



Recent Notes

The recent notes widget will display the most recent notes from the Notes Tab on the Client Page. 



Practice Status

The practice status widget will give you an overview of the tasks within the active list of jobs that are currently assigned to the practice.



Practice message


Fees

The fees widget will show you an overview of the total fees applied for the services.



Task Calendar

The task calendar widget will give you a clear visual display of the tasks that are assigned to your practice or to a specific user in your practice. 



You can toggle the calendar view by selecting the drop-down list at the very top of the calendar widget:



Task List

The task list widget will give you an overview of active tasks for the current users. This widget is a shortcut to your task list, and it mirrors the options that are available on your task list, such as: marking the task as completed, flagging, starring, re-assigning the tasks, snoozing the task, adding notes etc.



Overdue Tasks

This widget will highlight your overdue tasks.



Uncompletable tasks

This widget will show you all the tasks with the status "uncompletable".

 


An uncompletable Task is a task that cannot be completed due to errors, for example, missing information or field errors.


Tasks Pie Chart

The task pie chart will give you a visual display of ready, overdue and uncompletable tasks.

Upcoming Jobs

The upcoming jobs widget will give you an overview of all upcoming jobs within your practice. 



You can access additional options to filter and change how the date is being displayed by going into the Settings.



The Summary display option will give you an overview of the upcoming jobs: 



You can apply filters to specify which job you would like to display:



Furthermore, you can filter by a job date, filing date and payment date.



To personalise your widget, you can add a caption:




Table display shows you a more detailed view of the upcoming jobs:



You can also narrow this down to a specific job and select whether you want to display the job date, filing date or payment date.



The chart display will display your data in a colourful graph:



Job progress


The Job progress widget is a fantastic tool that will allow you a quick overview of all the jobs that are Ready, Pending, Completed, Overdue and Cancelled. By hovering your mouse over the graph, you can view exactly how many jobs have each status.



By clicking the Settings option at the top of the widget, you will be able to access additional options that will allow you to change the caption, select which jobs you would like to display and filter the jobs by job date and start date.



1. Caption - allows you to personalise the widget by changing the caption. For example, you could change the caption to "Accounts production jobs", "All jobs starting in the next 4 weeks", etc. 


2. Job filter - you can filter the jobs displayed on the widget to a specific job. You can add multiple Job progress widgets to your dashboard.



3. Date filter - this filter defaults to the Job date; however, if you filter the widget to a specific job, you can apply the filter to any key dates stored on that job.



4. Start date - you can filter the jobs based on their start date.


Scratchpad

The scratchpad widget is a great way to quickly add notes straight from your main dashboard. All notes on the scratchpad are visible only to the user.

Whether you prefer the classic look of the analogue clock or the simple and clean look of the digital clock, we have both!


Accounting News

Our Accounting News widget will give you an overview of the most recent news highlights and top articles from the AccountancyAge portal.
